WHAT TO EXPECT
When you are visiting any church for the first time, the unknown factors can make you a little nervous. We do not want unanswered questions to cause you needless anxiety so we have attempted to provide answers to some common questions such as: Where do I go? What time do I show up? What’s here for my kids? What do I wear? What can I expect?
We want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Lighthouse Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience the presence of God. We want you feel the love of God and hear the Word of God! You may find the following information to be helpful as you plan for your visit.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? There is not a strict dress code at Lighthouse Baptist Church for our members or guests. In case you are wondering, our ministry leaders and many of our church members dress in a more traditional “Sunday-Best” style of dress. However, our main goal is that you feel welcome and comfortable for your visit to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
WHERE DO I GO?
When you arrive on the property there will be someone to greet you at the main entrance of the church building to assist you with any directions you may need.
DO YOU OFFER CHILD CARE? We have a nursery available for infants through 3 years of age. Our nursery is safe, clean and properly staffed. The nursery is located down stairs at the end of the hallway on the right. A nursery worker will meet you at the door to sign in your child and answer any questions that you may have. The nursery opens 10 minutes prior to each service.
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL & ADULT BIBLE CLASS 10:00am-10:50am
We have classes grouped by age for children preschool through the sixth grade. These classes are dismissed from the auditorium after we open with a congregational hymn. The children can follow the teacher to their classroom or remain with you in the auditorium for the adult Bible class.
MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE 11:00am Our morning worship service begins at 11 am and ends between 12:00 and 12:15pm. You won’t feel rushed and we won’t drag it out.
DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR CHILDREN DURING THE MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE?
We have a special service designed especially for children ages 4 to 12. During the 11am service, at the announced time ,they are invited to depart the auditorium to attend “Junior Church”. You may also choose to have your children remain with you in the auditorium for the entire worship service. We reserve one Sunday each month for our families to worship together and do not have “Junior Church” on that day.
We do have a nursery available for infants through 3 years of age for all services.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
Every service gives you an opportunity to join us in singing hymns and spiritual songs as a congregation.
We are a church that believes in prayer. Throughout the service, prayers are led by different men who are members of the church. Some of these prayers deal with the needs and requests of our church family and friends, while others simply praise and thank God for His goodness and faithfulness.
During most services you will be blessed to hear beautiful music presented by various singing groups and soloists.
We consider the preaching and teaching of the Word of God to be the most important time of the service. We believe that the best help you can get comes from the instruction you receive from the Word of God.
At the end of the preaching, Pastor Smith will ask everyone to stand and will give an invitation. This is a time for many to respond and make a life-changing decision by walking down the aisle and praying at the altar. A decision may be to trust Jesus Christ as personal Saviour or to become a better Christian. Whatever your decision may be, the altar is open to you to come forward with others that will make decisions.
If you would like someone to pray for you or would like to make your decision public, men and women from our counseling team will be available to pray with you and help you at the altar.
At the close of each service we have a time where our members have an opportunity to give an offering to the Lord. While you are welcome to participate in the offering if you desire, we want you to know that we do not expect your participation. We are not inviting you to Lighthouse Baptist Church for your money. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in our church a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a home where you can grow in God’s grace. Please do not feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
